Urunana DC is composed of four seperate services:
1. Production of Urunana Soap Opera
2. Production of Umuhoza Magazine
3. Empowering Rural Women and Youth through Inter personal Communication activities.
4. External Production ServicesIn partnership with; Ministry of Health, BBC World Service, Rwanda Information Authority (ORINFOR) UNICEF, World Food Programme, and many other organizations intervening in health Urunana DC has been providing essentail health messages to rural and marginalized communities for more then ten years.
Along with a twice-weekly radio broadcast, Urunana DC also conducts community activies. The program conducts field training in Bugesera and Rulindo districts providing accessible information about sexual and reproductive health, family planning, HIV prevention and many other subjects.
The NGO also organizes seasonal community outreach shows in districts across Rwanda. The shows draw hundreds of men, women, and youth and engages them in skits with health messages. The skits are preformed by Urunana actors and discussion and audiece interaction is conducted afterward.
The organization also provides production of radio pragrammes, production of radio spots, production of radio dramas, in studio technical assistance, audience training and training in drama writing and message development for external organizations in need of these sevices.
Along with receiving several awards and recognition from government officials media agencies and health care professionals, millions of Rwandans tune-in weekly to be entertained and educated by this pioneer radio soap opera which has developed into a national NGO providing affordable and accessible information to the most vulnerable communities in Rwanda.
